Recently extensively refurbished, Regency House is a purpose-built care home in Ely, on the outskirts of Cardiff, with 58 single rooms and 6 shared rooms, all en-suite. We are pleased to be able to offer award-winning design initiatives in addition to our high standards of residential and nursing care.
Our relationship-centred ethos, which recognises the unique needs and expectations of the individual, allows us to tailor a care package that ensures that we meet the emotional, physical and social well-being of our residents. We empower our residents to carry on living a fulfilled life and support them to continue the everyday routines and activities they are used to but thought they may have left behind.
Life at Regency House
When you walk into Regency House, you are met with our bright and welcoming café, filled with the aroma of fresh coffee and homemade biscuits and cakes. It’s a lovely place for family and friends to meet with their loved one for a drink and a bite to eat. Other facilities include a cinema room, a beautiful landscaped garden for residents to potter in, and a luxurious hair salon. There’s also a dedicated activities room where we run popular arts and craft sessions, and a ‘corner shop’ where residents can collect a daily paper. We also organise outings to local places of interest. All our residents are encouraged to live an active and independent life and we regularly evaluate our activity programme to reflect the changing needs and preferences of our residents. Our visiting library club and shiatsu class have proven particularly popular as residents enjoy the familiarity of borrowing and discussing new books and enjoying relaxing massage.
We know it can be stressful moving into a new environment so, in conjunction with family members, we ask residents to fill in an ‘About Me’ book so we can learn more about them and their lives and make the move as smooth as possible. They can tell us about their hobbies and interests, likes and dislikes, their favourite foods, and what name they like to be known by. Anything that can help us help them settle in more quickly and get back to their usual routine.

I am the General Manager at Regency House. I have been a manager for 31 years, specialising in care of older people and dementia. I love that no day is the same at Regency House and the wonderful moments I have with the team and residents. Regency House is special, as most of our care team have been with us for many years and are all local, really grounding us within our local community.
