Award-winning Anisha

Anisha Grange care home in Billericay has been nominated for yet another award.

Anisha Grange has been nominated in the prestigious Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. The awards seek to acknowledge the contribution made by designers, architects and the owners of care homes, hospitals and other care schemes to the well-being and quality of life for those in their care. Both Amberley Hall and Alexandra Grange care homes are previous Hallmark winners of this esteemed award.

This is the third award nomination for Anisha Grange in as many months. The home was recently nominated in the 'Laing & Buisson Indpendant Specialist Care Awards' and walked away as winners at the 'UK Over 50s Housing Awards'

Anisha Grange is 'Most Outstanding'!

Anisha Grange was recently awarded as 'The UK's Most Outstanding New Care Home'

The Billericay Care Home was given the prestigious honour at the recent 'UK Over 50s Housing Awards', despite stiff competition from various other national care operators. Home manager Jo Coughlan said of the triumph, "This is fantastic recognition for everyone involved with this amazing home."

Hallmark care homes support the Alzheimer's Society

Alexandra Grange care home in Wokingham and Kew House care home in Wimbledon have been doing their bit for their local Alzheimer's Society groups.

Kew House welcomed Siobhain McDonagh MP to help launch The Rainbow Club at the home - a monthly support group for those affected by Alzhheimer's. The club will be held once a month and is open to both visitors and current residents of the home. Participants of the very first session enjoyed quizzes, games and an exercise class.

Alexandra Grange recently presented the Alzheimer's Society with a cheque for £128 following a variety of fundraising activity.

Specialist Care Awards finals for Anisha Grange

Anisha Grange care home has reached the finals of the Laing & Buisson 'Independant Specialist Care Awards'

The Billericay care home has been recognised in the 'Best design & construction' category. The award recognises innovation and excellence in architectural design and construction. Finalists should illustrate how effective design can enhance and support the provision of care services.

Winners are announced at a Gala dinner in March.

Anisha Grange is now open!

Anisha Grange in Billericay has just welcomed its first residents. Hallmark's 15th home offers residential, nursing, respite, palliative and specialist dementia care in a fabulous environment.

Hundereds of people from the community attended an open day at Anisha Grange recently to see what we will be offering residents, and the word WOW was repeated time and again!

We're very proud of our latest home, which has a garden designed by an award-winning landscape architect, the latest technology including a mist sprinkler system and state-of-the-art cinema room, a welcoming cafe, and big, bright, airy bedrooms, some with their own private patio.

Hello, Shw mae, Bonjour

Shire Hall care home welcomed over 30 health & social students from a college in Bordeaux. The students were visiting Cardiff for the first time as part of their college course and couldn’t wait to meet the residents of Shire Hall. After hearing a brief history on the home and Hallmark Care Homes itself, the students were given tours of the home and treated to some traditional Welsh nibbles. As a thank you, the class presented Shire Hall with a traditional French wine hamper.

Goodwins Hall care home summer fete

Goodwins Hall care home welcomed over 400 local people throughout the course of the sunny summer fete and even managed to raise over £1200 for their residents’ fund in the process.

Home manager Julie Archer Moran and staff decided to revamp their usual

annual fete, and it certainly went down a hit with the community. As well as

lots of stalls, games and a tasty BBQ, there were live performances from a

local indie rock group and a street dancing team too.

Hallmark in Bloom 2011

Hallmark in Bloom was hotly contested once again this year with homes pulling out all the stops to impress the judges, and provide fantastic gardens for residents.

 Most homes have had training this year from Thrive, and the benefits were clear to see. There is greater accessibility in the gardens, with resident involvement increasing as a result. The results have been announced and the new-look awards will be given out during Staff Recognition Month. Well done to all our homes for their amazing work for this year’s Hallmark in Bloom. Keep up the green-fingered work throughout the year!

Staff conquer Snowdon!

Three adventurous members of staff from The Hollies recently climbed Mount Snowdon to raise money for the residents’ fund. Donna Graham, Chris Mann, and Alec Coleman raised £293 after they completed the trek more than 1,000m above sea level.

Donna said, "It wasn't easy, but we'd do anything for our residents. Thank you to everyone who kindly donated. The views up there were amazing, but I don't think we'll be doing it again in a hurry!" Although, Chris may have other ideas - he's already planning to conquer mountains in Scotland next year!

Kewie arrives at Kew House!

Meet Kewie; a new member of the team at – you’ve guessed it – Kew House!

 2-year-old Kewie was rescued from a pet centre as part of Kew House’s drive for RSPCA recognition week. Residents have loved getting to know him and take part in caring and looking after him. Below: Resident Rouhama Lottery is the first to meet Kew House’s new mascot.

Happy 10th birthday Goodwins Hall

Goodwins Hall celebrated 10 years of excellent care this month. The home worked extremely hard to throw an amazing party for residents and their relatives, staff and the community.

Entertainment on the day was provided by the King’s Lynn town brass band, and students from Plaxtole House School choir sung ‘60’s hits.

The original commissioning manager of Goodwins Hall, Vicky Hurlock, was the guest of honor along with borough mayor, Zipha Christopher.

Hug Week!

Hug Week was recently celebrated across all Hallmark care homes. Hug Day is an important part of our social calendar, as it’s a great excuse to make sure all our residents get a much-needed cuddle... and it’s also a fantastic reason for a party!

This year there were discos, games, dressing up, and of course - a whole lot of hugs!

Head office staff Sue Earrey, Jacqueline Farguson and Hossam Elgarhy joined Hallmark MD Avnish Goyal and John Baron MP for the ‘Topping Out’ ceremony at Anisha Grange, Billericay.  

The 70-bed home is due to open late this summer.

Greenhill Manor resident meets his idol...again!

Greenhill Manor care home resident Sean Power had a dream Saturday night as he watched his singing idol Daniel O’Donnell live at Cardiff City Hall.

As a special surprise, the home arranged for Sean to meet the singer backstage - the second time Sean has met Daniel!
