Residents Admiral Court Care Home celebrated British Food Fortnight with a Wild Wild West themed day. The home, on Manchester Drive, dressed in cowboy hats, checked shirts and boots for an action packed day.

The celebration kicked off with themed decorations of pumpkins, sweetcorn, carrots and squash all picked out by the homes talented head chef. Country and western music was played throughout the day with residents and the team getting into the spirit, enjoying a sing along and dance. Leigh Baptist Church gave a harvest service for the residents followed by afternoon tea for the group and entertainment, provided by Rita B. Rita is a UK award-winning country singer/songwriter who played a range of music to suit all tastes and performed an excellent tribute to Patsy Cline. After the busy day, everybody was ready to relax in the homes purpose built cinema with a collection of classic westerns and a good cup of tea.
The celebrations continued throughout the week with a visit from Gemma’s Farm, who brought along a variety of farm animals, including a pony, goats, ducks and a guinea pig. The residents had a wonderful time interacting with the animals and a lot of childhood memories were brought back about times spent on farms growing up and even just being around animals as a child.
Activities Coordinator, Marina Govier, said, “It was such a wonderful way to celebrate, I particularly enjoyed the animals. There were smiles and laughs all afternoon and chatting into the evening about the wonderful events.”
