Hallmark Care Homes To Take Part In World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

A Coffee Morning For A Good Cause

The Hallmark team and residents alike love any excuse for a coffee break! A cuppa and a slice of cake is sure to put a smile on all of our faces, and the fact it raises awareness and money for cancer charity, Macmillan, is an added bonus!

The ball started rolling back in 1990 when a small fundraising committee arranged a coffee morning for people to meet and mingle, and donate the cost of their coffee to Macmillan in the process. Little did they know that twenty-four years on their idea would be one of the biggest charity fundraisers in the U.K.

Events taking place

At Hallmark we jumped aboard this fantastic annual charity event and have been getting involved in any way we can. This year’s event is on the 26th of September, and we have a whole range of fundraisers lined up – selling cakes, baking cakes, team get-togethers, cake competitions, lucky dips and raffles.

Not only do we get residents thoroughly involved with this event, but we love to involve families and the local community too. Many of our homes are hosting tea parties, bring and buy events and our Lakeview home is holding a joint community networking morning with the local Bowls Club. Admiral Court are putting on an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party, and Greenhill Manor and Cartref Annwyl-Fan have entertainers coming into the homes.

There is loads to get involved with, and this is set to be a great event for our residents, teams and local people to enjoy. We plan to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support. The success of the coffee mornings worldwide is sure to be down to the simple effectiveness of the idea. Year on year the events are growing, and the coffee mornings have now raised over £113 million!
