Anya Court’s Official Opening by John Craven
Anya Court, our highly-anticipated new care home in Rugby, was officially opened on Wednesday 8th October by journalist and television presenter John Craven, who described the home as “the shining star for all other care homes”. John, best known for presenting John Craven’s Newsround and Countryfile, cut the ribbon in front of 200 guests and gave his backing to the newest care home in the Hallmark family.
Following a champagne reception in Anya Court’s ‘Juke Box Café’, a vibrant music-inspired social space, guests were given tours of our innovative new home. The home, which will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, has been the talk of the town thanks to its impressive architecture and offering of innovative facilities such the luxury cinema and relaxing therapy room. Anya Court’s specialist dementia community also features a hair salon, resident’s laundry rooms, the colourful Corner shop, and the ‘Emporium’ shop; all of which provide vital destination points for residents living with a form of dementia and are designed to encourage active and independent living.
The grand opening followed a successful Community Open Weekend which was attended by lots of local people eager to get a first look at our much talked-about new home. Anya Court is already playing its part in the community; running Dementia Friends sessions for local people and taking part in (and winning!) this year’s ‘Rugby in Bloom’ gardening competition.
Despite some adverse weather at Wednesday’s ceremony, guests were eager to venture outside to sample Anya Court’s landscaped garden which includes a Gardening Club, complete with greenhouse, and a modern water feature as its centrepiece. Overlooking the gardens is the home’s ‘Tea for Two Café’ with a traditional kitchen area and a large terrace.
Guests enjoyed a buffet lunch in the dementia community’s ‘Melody Dining Room’ – a beautifully furnished space which is open plan to allow residents to mingle between lounge and dining room settings. There are also open kitchenette areas to encourage residents to help with the preparation of meals. Guest of honour John praised the home’s dementia community for its “thoughtful and purposeful design”.
Speaking at the launch, Anya Court’s General Manager Steve Neal said:
“We have a building we can be proud of and a fantastic team in place. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our first residents to their new home and delivering the highest standard of relationship-centred care”.
Both the Community Open Weekend and the Official Opening Ceremony were a fantastic success, and Anya Court is looking forward to welcoming its first residents at the end of October, and providing residential, nursing, and dementia care.
