Bucklesham Grange team member to swim the English Channel in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice

A brave team member at Bucklesham Grange Care Home in Ipswich, is challenging herself to swim part of the English Channel from Dover to France in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice.

Laundry assistant, Maggie Ling, 51, has already raised over £1,300.00 for the charity which gives care and support to children and young people with life threatening illnesses.

The daring individual has raised the money through sponsorships and a raffle held at the Ipswich care home, which specialises in residential, nursing and dementia care.

Maggie, who only learnt to swim 8 years ago has trained for the 21 mile swim in Dover, which she will complete as part of a four person relay team by swimming off the coast of Felixstowe.

Maggie Ling said: “My work in a care home involves caring for the older members of the community so I wanted to do something for the younger members too.”

The determined lady is expected to swim up to 27 hours in likely temperatures of 15 degrees between 22nd  July – 4th August.
