Anya Court put on 1950’s bash to celebrate 1st birthday
Anya Court, our care home in Rugby, has celebrated its first birthday with a 1950’s party to mark the milestone event.
The award-winning, residential, nursing and dementia home, which had its grand launch in October last year, put on a swinging celebration for residents, relatives and members of the local community with a party complete with 1950’s fancy dress, props and entertainment provided by singer Jessie Bolas.
During the day, residents took part in a 1950’s quiz and enjoyed a taste of the rock ‘n’ roll era by treating themselves to burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and ice cream sundaes.
Customer relationship manager at Anya Court, Karen Handley said: “We had a lot of fun celebrating our milestone. We have a strong, committed team at Anya who enable our resident’s to live full, active and independent lives. I would like to thank them for their continued support.”
Among the 50 guests who attended was Anya Courts first resident, Joan Ridgway, who attended the homes grand launch, opened by television presenter John Craven.
Joan, 97 said: “It was a lovely day and a lot of fun, I am really happy here.”
Rugby Mayor Councillor Richard Dodd also attended the event.
He said: “I was delighted to attend the first year anniversary celebration at Anya Court Care Home and had the opportunity to meet with staff and residents whilst being entertained in true 1950’s style.
“All the staff were great fun in their costumes and the residents had nothing but praise for the care, support and facilities provided. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and residents for making my visit such a memorable occasion.”
