Anya Court and Lakeview nominated for dementia design award

Hallmark Care Homes’, Anya Court in Rugby and Lakeview in Lightwater, have both been shortlisted for an esteemed design award.

The homes, which opened in Autumn 2014 are in the running for an award in the ‘Best Interior Dementia Design’ category at the prestigious Dementia Care Awards.

The awards, first established in 2009, seek to acknowledge care providers and individuals who have made a significant difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.

Anya Court, provides residential, nursing and dementia care and has facilities such as a hair salon, cinema, Juke Box Cafe’ and emporium shop; all of which provide vital destination points for residents living with dementia.

Anya Court also promotes independent living with additional facilities such as an interactive kitchen where residents can help cook and prepare meals and resident’s laundry rooms.

Lakeview has residential and dementia care communities. The home’s facilities include; a hair salon, cinema, Woodland Café and therapy room. The dementia community also has a large and inviting orangery which leads onto an outside terrace, while all rooms on this community have a dementia monitoring system to support the well-being of residents.

Design Manager for both homes, Jacqueline Farguson said: “We are absolutely delighted to have both homes in the final for this prestigious award.

“An enormous amount of hard work, dedication and passion goes into creating these beautiful facilities so that the residents, their families and the care teams can feel at home. Being shortlisted for this category is a wonderful acknowledgement of all that effort.”

The highly regarded nomination is the first time Hallmark Care Homes has been shortlisted for this category but follows in the footsteps from this year’s Pinders Healthcare Design Awards where Anya Court was crowned ‘Best Care Home’ and Lakeview was shortlisted for ‘Best Dementia Facility.’ This award represented a record breaking five wins in five years for Hallmark.

The 2015 winners will be named at a glittering ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Friday November 13.
