Hallmark Care Homes resident meets Peter Andre

A hallmark care home resident has met pop and dance sensation Peter Andre after winning our wish granting competition.

Patricia Martin, 85, was chauffeur driven by Rolls Royce to Peter Andre’s ‘Come swing with me’ concert, to meet him in person and watch him perform live.

When Patricia, a resident at Bucklesham Grange, our care home in Ipswich, was asked to write down a wish, she revealed her desire to meet Peter Andre in person.

She had shared her daughters admiration for his singing and TV appearances on Strictly Come Dancing last year and ITV’s 60 Second Makeover.

Bucklesham Grange, which specialises in residential, nursing and dementia care, granted Patricia’s wish after deciding she should be the homes winner of its Christmas wish competition, Lucky Star.

Since the announcement, which was kept secret from Patricia until the day, the care home has worked closely with Patricia’s family behind the scenes to organise transport, a personal meeting with Peter and VIP tickets.

Patricia said: “I had a lovely time and I enjoyed meeting Peter, he is a really nice man and a talented singer. It was worth the late and sleepless night!”

Patricia was accompanied to the show by care assistant at Bucklesham Grange and family friend, Beverley Shaw.

Beverley said: “Patricia had a wonderful evening and it was nice to see her enjoying herself and tapping her feet.

“Peter was a really genuine guy, he sung to her personally and even dedicated her favourite song, ‘Fly me to the Moon’ by Frank Sinatra later on stage, saying he met a special lady in a wheelchair called Pat.”

After the show, Patricia was given a signed programme and lanyard with Peter Andre’s autograph.

The granted wish is just one of many, Hallmark Care Homes has pledged to make true this year for each of its 15 homes in England and South Wales.
