Daring duo from Hallmark Care Homes take on The Rusty Rally Challenge for charity
Two brave team members at Hallmark Care Homes are taking on The Rusty Rally driving challenge in aid of educational charity, The Outward Bound Trust.
Hallmark Care Homes Managing Director, Avnish Goyal and Regional Director, Kieron Walsh have already raised over £9,000 in sponsorship for the charity that equips young people from all walks of life with valuable skills for education, work and life through outdoor learning programmes.
The daring pair, will attempt the gruelling challenge, which involves driving over 700 miles in three days across seven countries in Europe – all in an old banger!
The cars chosen for the challenge, cost no more than £500 and are to navigate some of the world’s most famous and difficult driving roads. The 15 year old Jaguar, which was deemed roadworthy only yesterday, and the nineteen year old Saab, with a leaking roof, will be tackling mountain passes and steep bends in journeys estimated to take over 7 hours each day.
The gentlemen will be kept company for the duration of the journey by their partners and their families, who are joining them as part of their Rusty Rally team.
Avnish Goyal, Managing Director of Hallmark Care Homes said: “We are incredibly excited to take part in this challenge and support The Outward Bound Trust, which enables young people to become more confident and capable at school and in the workplace and leaders of the future.
“So far we have raised an amazing £9,158 and I would like to thank my main sponsors; Precious Care Homes, Bassi Estates, DP Systems, Carehome.co.uk, Caring Times, Oomph!, Life Books, Athena Care Homes, Vivien Kondor, Smoker’s Paradise and Sida Supplies for their very kind donations. ”
Kieron Walsh, Regional Director at Hallmark Care Homes said: “We are very much looking forward to this challenge and embracing it as an opportunity to bond as a team. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we have no problems with our Rusty Rally cars and I would like to thank all of our current sponsors for their continued support.”
The determined Managers are expected to finish their intense road trip, which is worthy of a BBC Top Gear special, on Sunday 12th June.
