Hallmark Care Homes wins three gold Wales Care Awards

Hallmark team members from Greenhill Manor, our care home in Merthyr, Bryn Celyn, our care home in Maesteg and Ty Enfys, our care home in Cardiff have scooped three gold Wales Care Awards.

Sreeja Ranjith from Greenhill Manor, Jenilynne Williams from Bryn Celyn and Patrick Johnstone from Ty Enfys impressed judges with their residential, nursing care and culinary ability at the Wales Care Award’s annual award ceremony.

The prestigious awards, first established in 2003 by Care Forum Wales, seek to reward the champions in the sector and raise public awareness of the vital contribution made by the social care workforce.

‘Nurse of the Year’ winner and Nurse Sreeja Ranjith said: “I was so proud and overwhelmed to have won as I didn’t expect it. I’d like to thank my team members at Greenhill as well as my Community Manager Sue Povey, and General Manager Mark McCole for all the support they’ve given me over the years, without them I wouldn’t have been able to have achieved all I have.”

‘Excellence in Catering in Care’ winner and Head Chef Patrick Johnstone said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won, I’m just glad I am getting it right for the residents and for Hallmark as a company. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening it was great to spend time with Avnish and the team and I look forward to winning more awards for Ty Enfys.”

‘Exceptional Newcomer’ winner and Care Assistant Jenilynne Williams said: “I feel it was an honour just to be nominated. The whole evening was a very humbling experience and it was great to see so many people recognised and appreciated for the care they provide and enjoying the night.”

A panel of judges interviewed Sreeja, Jenilynne and Patrick last month along with two other entrants from each category before coming to their decision.

Entrants were judged on their passion for making a difference, their practices in promoting dignity, respect and independence and their skills and knowledge relevant to the category.

For the ‘Excellence in Catering in Care’ category finalists also had to prepare a dish from one of their current menus for the judges.

Noteworthy employees; Patricia Brown, Ian Fisher, Luke Jenkins and Kelly Collard were also recognised at this year’s finals for their outstanding care.

Patricia Brown, Luke Jenkins and Kelly Collard from Greenhill Manor was awarded silver for the ‘Commitment to Training and Workforce’ ‘Promoting Fulfilled Lives’ and ‘Residential Care Practitioner’ categories.  Meanwhile, Ian Fisher from Central Support was awarded silver for the ‘Social Care Health and Safety’ category.
