Chamberlain Court donates £500 to The Alzheimer’s Society
Chamberlain Court, our new residential and dementia care home in Tunbridge Wells has donated £500 to The Alzheimer’s Society to mark Dementia Awareness Week.
Team members from Chamberlain Court, donated the money to the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity to mark the national awareness week which runs from the 14th – 21st May.
The spontaneous donation was made at The Alzheimer’s Society’s monthly dementia support café at The Ark on Gallards Close in Tunbridge Wells.
Customer Relationship Manager at Chamberlain Court, Darren Hill said: “Chamberlain Court are delighted to be donating this money to The Alzheimer’s Society, who do amazing work both in the local and wider communities.
“We hope to be able to support them with their future fundraising efforts, as well as work with them to ensure that we are providing excellent standards of dementia care to the residents whom we will care for.”
Kate Sergeant, Alzheimer’s Society Services Manager for West Kent, said: “We are extremely grateful to Chamberlain Court. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals and organisations like Chamberlain Court to help us support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.
“Dementia doesn’t care who you are; it could affect us all. It’s set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer, with someone developing it every three minutes, and so many people are facing it alone. People with dementia often feel – and are – misunderstood, marginalised and isolated but with the right support and understanding they can continue to live fulfilling lives and make a contribution to their communities.”
For the month of May, Dementia Champions at all of our homes across England and South Wales will attempt to educate 1,000 people about dementia by running multiple Dementia Friends sessions.
