Hallmark grants 91-year-old residents’ wish to watch a cricket match

A Lakeview Care Home resident watched Bagshot Cricket Club play and meet the team after winning our Lucky Star Christmas wish-granting competition.

Sid Andrews, 91 recently enjoyed a sunny afternoon watching Bagshot Cricket Club win with an impressive score of 256-6, beating Chesham who were 244 all out at Bagshot’s home ground.

His visit to the ground was arranged by management at our Lightwater home after Sid wished to go to a cricket game in December, as part of our national wish granting competition called Lucky Star.

He was revealed as one of the home’s winners in January.

Cricket enthusiast, Sid said: “I had a great afternoon watching Bagshot play and win. I have been a big fan of cricket since I was a young boy and I am so happy that my wish to go and watch another game has come true.”

Krissi-Lea Dawson, Lifestyle Leader at Lakeview Care Home said: “Sid is so happy he got to watch Bagshot Cricket Club play and we are delighted that they honoured his visit with a win.

“Sid is an avid cricket fan and played a lot during his younger years and I am glad that we have been able to make this wish come true for such a lovely gentleman.

“I would like to extend my thanks to Bagshot CC for making the afternoon so special for Sid and I want to congratulate the team once again on their fantastic win!”
