Regency House launches weekly cuppa with a copper event
Regency House, our care home in Ely has launched a regular cuppa with a copper event for residents, relatives and members of the local community.
Every Tuesday at 12pm the local Police Community Support Officers will come into our residential, dementia and nursing home to spend time talking to residents about news as well as allowing residents and visitors to raise any concerns they may have within the local community.
As well as sitting down with residents in the coffee shop, the PCSOs will also spend time in each of our communities, ensuring every resident has the opportunity to spend time with them.
The purpose of the exercise is to make the residents feel like valued members of society as well as keep them up to date with the going’s on in the community and the surrounding areas.
The Cardiff PCSO’s have become regular visitors to our home on Mill Road, including joining us to celebrate Care Home Open Day in June, joining residents for lunch for Fish ‘n’ Chips day as well as helping with some gardening prior to the recent Hallmark in Bloom judging day in July.
Lifestyles Team Leader at Regency House, Tracy Hiscock said: “We are delighted to be launching this cuppa with a copper initiative at Regency House.
“Residents in care homes can easily feel isolated from their local community so it is great for our local PSCO’s to pop in and spend time getting to know the residents and sharing stories and news with them about the community.
“We believe that it is vital that residents are kept up to date with the events within their local community and we are thankful that the PCSO’s are helping us do this!”
The cuppa with a copper event takes place every Tuesday at 12pm at our home’s coffee shop on Mill Road, Ely, Cardiff CF5 4AH.
