Greenhill Manor Care Home support the Red Box Project

Greenhill Manor, our care home in Merthyr Tydfil, has recently become a drop-off point for the Red Box Project – an initiative which provides young women in local schools with sanitary products.

The scheme that was set up in March 2017, aims to ensure that no young woman misses out on her education because she cannot afford sanitary products. Initially, the scheme was set up in Portsmouth, but after realising that ‘period poverty’ is a nationwide problem, the Red Box Project set up donation points across the UK.

All of the items that are donated to the drop-off points are later picked up by a Red Box Project representative to be distributed to local schools.

Clinical Care Manager at Greenhill Manor Care Home, Karen Beech said: “The team and families at Greenhill Manor are so happy to support this project. We are pleased to be part of a scheme that is making such a difference to the lives of young women in the local area.

“We hope that the support will help them to be able to fulfil their full potential with regards to their education.”

If you would like to help the Red Box Project in their mission to end ‘period poverty’ in local schools, you can donate sanitary items to Greenhill Manor Care Home, Duffryn Road, Merthyr Tydfil CF48 4BE between 8am and 6pm.
