Ashingdon Beaver Scouts earn their community badge with Admiral Court residents

Residents at Admiral Court, our dementia and nursing care home in Leigh-on-Sea, recently enjoyed a visit from the Ashingdon Beaver Scouts, who helped the care team during a mealtime service.

The Scouts, who were working towards their community badge, visited the award-winning home to help team members serve squash and homemade bread rolls to the residents. The Scouts chatted to the residents about their past occupations and also learnt how people living with long-term conditions may require the support of others during activities such as mealtimes.

During the exciting visit, the children taught their favourite scout songs to the residents and the residents sang the theme song to My Fair Lady.
Lifestyles Team Leader at Admiral Court Care Home, Sarah Savidge said: “The scouts aged six to eight years were courteous and super helpful. The residents had a really entertaining evening meal and thoroughly enjoyed meeting the youngsters.”

A resident at Admiral Court Care Home, Joan Logan, 102, said: “It was so lovely to see such well-mannered, well-behaved young people. It was a great pleasure to meet them all.”

Resident, John Breavington, 88, said: “I was a boy scout in my younger days. Thank you all so much for visiting us.”
