Care workers complete 100km walk raising £13,700 for Alzheimer’s Research UK
Nine brave employees from our Central Support Office in Billericay, Essex walked 62 miles in two days raising £13,700 for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The developments team led by Construction Director James Rowntree walked a gruelling 100km in 31 degree heat recently from Putney Bridge to our new site in Henley on Thames.
They tackled the momentous challenge to raise awareness and funds to fuel life-changing dementia research as part of our commitment to raise £50,000 for the charity throughout 2018.
Construction Director at Hallmark Care Homes, James Rowntree said: “It was a difficult challenge but despite the blisters and adverse weather conditions we all made it past the finishing line!
“I would like to give a huge thanks to our colleagues, family, friends and sponsors including; Knight Frank, Steve Feldman, Christie & Co, G&T Office Equipment, Clarke Infinity, Arc Engineers, Lawrence Baker, Leighway Brickwork, Eastway Electrical and Meedhurst Project Management who supported us with generous donations and phone calls throughout the duration of the walk. We couldn’t have raised this tremendous amount nor completed the challenge without you.”
Katy Abraham, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “Well done and a big thank you to the whole team for conquering this mammoth challenge, especially during a heat wave! They’ve all done such a fantastic job and their fundraising efforts are going to make a huge difference in Alzheimer’s Research UK’s search for a cure for dementia.
“There are currently no treatments to slow, stop or prevent the diseases, like Alzheimer’s, that cause dementia. But with the backing of people like these – who push themselves to their limits in support of our work – we will bring an end to the heartbreak dementia causes.”
