Admiral Court raise £300 for care workers with sponsored garden walk
Residents at Admiral Court, our award-winning care home in Leigh-on-sea, recently took part in a charity walk around the homes’ gardens with local pre-school children raising over £300 for The Care Workers Charity.
The nursing and dementia care home welcomed local childminders and children who visit the home on a regular basis to take part in a sponsored and exciting scavenger hunt alongside the residents.
They took part in the two mile walk to raise funds for current, former and retired care workers who have fallen on hard times.
As part of the scavenger hunt, the children, aged between 18 months and 6 years, walked around the garden with residents from the home in the quest to find 10 items, from a blue stone to an interesting twig, with the final item being a big smile.
Lifestyles Team Leader at Admiral Court Care Home, Sarah Savidge said: “We are very pleased with how the event went and we raised over £300 which will go towards a great cause.
“The children visiting us made the day so special. It was so lovely to see them interacting with the residents in the garden and helping them to find the treasure.”
OFSTED Registered Child Minder, Maria Atkinson said: “Seeing the way the residents light up when we bring the children in to visit is so wonderful.
“We never get tired of coming to Admiral Court. They are just like our family. We have a very special relationship.”
