Hallmark Care Homes shortlisted for two National Dementia Care Awards
We’re pleased to announce that one of our team members and care homes have been shortlisted for this year’s National Dementia Care Awards.
Registered Nurse at Ty Enfys, our care home in Cardiff, Arya Thakidickal Lal is a finalist in the ‘Best Dementia Nurse Specialist’ category.
Meanwhile, Chamberlain Court, our state-of-the-art care home in Royal Tunbridge Wells has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Dementia Garden’ category.
The awards, which were first established in 2009 by The Journal of Dementia Care, seek to acknowledge care providers and individuals who have made a significant difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.
The acclaimed nomination for Arya, follows her success at our recent Hallmark Care Homes’ Awards ceremony, where she was deservedly awarded the ‘Nurse of the Year’ title.
Arya said: “I feel overwhelmed to be shortlisted for an award at the National Dementia Care Awards!
“I love being a Registered Nurse at Ty Enfys and we have an amazing team here. It feels great to be recognised!”
Customer Relationship Manager at Chamberlain Court Care Home, Melissa Jorgensen said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for this category as we have worked hard to create and maintain a dementia-friendly outdoor environment for all residents.
“The residents thoroughly enjoy tending to their beautifully landscaped gardens by watering flowers, viewing the fish ponds and looking after the flower beds on the rooftop terrace.
“Being shortlisted for this award is something the team and residents can all be proud of.”
The garden at Chamberlain Court includes continual pathways, taking residents and visitors past fish ponds, raised planters, a herb garden, greenhouse, and the popular aviary which contains a mix of bird species.
Other features include an external WC, ample seating and leaning posts around the garden as well as the external activity room which is used fortnightly for art lessons.
The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony hosted by Politician Hazel Mears at the Hilton Brighton Metropole on the 8th November.
