Hallmark Care Homes wins two national design awards

Hallmark Care Homes and Arlington Manor, our care home in Girton, Cambridge, have each won a national design award.

Arlington Manor Care Home, which opened in October 2018, was awarded the ‘Best New Care Home’ title at the prestigious Pinders Healthcare Design Awards as well as Hallmark Care Homes, who were presented with a surprise award for their ‘Outstanding Contribution to Care Home Design.’

The glittering awards ceremony held recently at the Lancaster London Hotel in Westminster, seek to acknowledge the contribution made by designers, architects and the owners of care homes, hospitals and other care schemes to the well-being and quality of life for those in their care.

Arlington Manor provides residential, nursing and dementia care and has facilities such as a hair salon, therapy room, cinema room and café.

Design innovations at our home include; a physio room, a musical room, a celebrations room which can be reserved for functions, a winter and summer terrace and an outdoor putting green.

Meanwhile, outside there are landscaped gardens designed by the late award-winning landscape architect David Fountain.

Customer Relationship Manager at Arlington Manor, Lisa Vile said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this prestigious award.

“An enormous amount of hard work, dedication and passion has gone into creating this beautiful facility so that the residents, their families and the care teams can feel at home. Being awarded this category is a wonderful acknowledgement of all that effort.”

Hallmark Care Homes Chair, Avnish Goyal said: “We are absolutely delighted that the hard work and vision of the past and present team has been recognised over the last ten years, having 11 care homes in the finals, winning Best New Care Home eight times.

“The team are really excited about continuing to innovate for the future and are looking forward to the next 10 years.”

Director of Pinders, Jon Chapman said: “We decided to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards with a special award, recognising the contribution Hallmark Care Homes have made to the advancement of design standards.  Their track record of eight award winners is unrivalled but, more importantly, they have continued to innovate and improve with every new project.

“As standards in the sector have risen year on year, Hallmark’s attention to detail has kept them at the very top, being prepared to critically examine everything they do and see if it can be bettered.  This was evident at Arlington Manor where the design team of architects, interior designers and operational staff have worked closely together to create a mix of excellent internal and external spaces.”

A panel of expert judges visited the home in February along with two of its competitors before coming to their decision.

Entrants were judged on room and en suite sizes, facilities made available to residents, use of outdoor space, level of ambience and interior and exterior design.

Arlington Manor’s win follows in the footsteps of Chamberlain Court, our care home Royal Tunbridge Wells, which was awarded ‘Best New Care Home’ at the 2018 ceremony.

Our other homes in Rugby, Brighton and Ipswich picked up the award in 2015, 2014 and 2013, leading on from our homes in Wokingham and in Essex which won awards in 2012 and 2011 respectively.
