Anisha Grange Care Home hosts Billericay Dementia Alliance launch

In a bid to create a more dementia friendly community, Anisha Grange, our care home on Outwood Common Road, has held the first meeting to launch the Billericay Dementia Alliance.

14 local businesses attended the meeting on Wednesday to discuss ways they could help people to have a better understanding of dementia and the small changes they could make to make a difference.

The alliance has a vision to ensure those living with dementia are recognised as unique individuals that play an important role in the local community.

Customer Relationship Manager at Anisha Grange Care Home and Chairman of the Billericay Dementia Alliance, Carl Roberts, said: “Billericay is a fantastic community and it was great to see the months of planning from the steering group become a reality!

“We are delighted with the enthusiasm shown by members and had a detailed and optimistic discussion. Members committed various actions over the coming weeks and months to help make Billericay truly dementia friendly and inclusive.”

CEO of the Forget Me Not Memory Café Charity, Tracy Godden said: “Forget Me Not Memory Café Charity is pleased to be a part of the Billericay Dementia Alliance, we are committed to taking action on dementia!”

Club Secretary of the Billericay Striders, Dave Sweet said: “To be involved in a new venture from the outset is always exciting. We have high hopes and expectations that we can make a real difference for Billericay and the wider community.”

Others in attendance were; Bennett’s Funeral Directors, Basildon Council Sheltered Accommodation, Billericay Town Council, Santander Billericay, Billericay Cricket Club, Hazel’s Pottery Barn, Right at Home UK, Billericay Mayflower Rotary Club and the Forget Me Not Activities Club.

The next Dementia Alliance meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th May at 2pm at Anisha Grange Care Home.
