Arlington Manor Care Home donates £500 to Girton Memory Café
Arlington Manor, our care home in Girton, Cambridge, recently donated £500 to support the Girton Memory Café, which is co-ordinated by the Cambridge South Rotary Club, to mark Dementia Action Week.
Dementia Action Week, which runs from 20th-26th May, unites people, workplaces, schools and communities to take action and improve the lives of people living with dementia.
Representatives from Arlington Manor Care Home, on Wellbrook Way, presented the cheque to the members of the rotary club who offer a warm welcome to those living with dementia and their families to enjoy socialising with like-minded people and curb feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Lisa Vile, Customer Relationship Manager at Arlington Manor Care Home said: “We are delighted to have presented the Girton Memory Café with £500. We hope that by donating this money, they can continue to provide a safe place in the local community for people living with dementia and their family and friends.”
Organiser of the Cambridge South Rotary Club and Memory Café, Richard De Horsey said: “We are extremely grateful for the £500 donation to the Girton Memory Café from Arlington Manor Care Home.
“With the money we have received, we hope to buy a PA system and support the transportation of people to and from the café. This way, we can continue to support those affected by dementia in the local community.”
