Chamberlain Court Care Home to bridge the generation gap

Our care home in Royal Tunbridge Wells will attempt to bridge the generation gap by hosting a weekly sing-along activity for 0-4-year olds and their parents within the local community.

Our residential, nursing and dementia care home on Mount Ephraim, will host a weekly session called Songs & Smiles held in association with not-for-profit social enterprise, The Together Project.

Songs & Smiles has been designed to entertain and engage everyone from the youngest to the oldest members of the group, through singing, movement, instruments, coloured scarves and bubbles.

Each session lasts approximately an hour, with the creative activity followed by refreshments and a meet and mingle with the homes residents and care team.

The purpose of the activity is to reduce loneliness, improve well-being, tackle ageism and unite local communities through joyful intergenerational activities.

Lifestyle’s Leader, Suzanne Goodman said: “We are delighted to be hosting a weekly Songs & Smiles activity at our home as we know that intergenerational activities can help to improve both the residents’ physical and emotional well-being.

“We are really looking forward to our first session and we hope that local parents and their little ones will come along and join us for a great morning of socialisation and fun.”

Founder of The Together Project, Louise Goulden said: “We’re so pleased to have partnered with Chamberlain Court Care Home. It means we can spread the Songs & Smiles joy to children, parents and older people within the Royal Tunbridge Wells community, bringing everyone together for music, fun and friendship.

“It’s an exciting step for The Together Project and we’re thrilled to be working with an care home that shares our commitment to enriching the lives of people living in residential care.”

Chamberlain Court’s first Songs & Smiles session will take place on Tuesday 11th June at 11:00am.

Each session is free however donations are welcome.
