Greenhill Manor team member shortlisted for University of South Wales award

A team member at Greenhill Manor, our care home in Mertyhr Tydfil, has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Community Manager, Sue Povey, has been shortlisted in the Mentor category at the USW Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards 2019, after being put forward by a student at the University of South Wales.

Speaking about the nomination, Sue said: “I was very surprised but also very honoured when I received the news that I had been nominated for the award.

“I believe that student mentoring is a two-way process whereby both mentor and student must actively participate to make the learning placement effectively work.

“Being a mentor gives me the privilege to facilitate personal and professional development of individuals who succeed to graduate in their studies and beyond in their future nursing careers.”

General Manager at Greenhill Manor Care Home, Mark McCole said: “I am very proud of the team at Greenhill Manor that constantly go above and beyond whilst constantly focusing on our promise, which is is to exceed professional standards and to support the aspirations of our people through continuous training and development.

“Sue and her team regularly mentor students from the university and enjoy this immensely.”

The prestigious nomination for Sue follows in the footsteps of the 2015 National Care Awards, where she was awarded ‘Care Registered Nurse’ of the year.

The winners of the USW Nursing and Midwifery awards will be announced at an event on Thursday 27th June.
