Dementia Friends sessions in Banstead

Banstead Manor, our care home in Banstead, Surrey, is hosting several dementia friends’ sessions to encourage visitors to learn more about the condition and to help raise awareness.

The events will be taking place on:

  • Wednesday 17th July, 5.00pm
  • Friday 26th July, 6.00pm
  • Thursday 1st August, 12.00pm
  • Thursday 8th August, 11.00am
  • Wednesday 14th August, 3.00pm
  • Wednesday 21st August, 4.00pm
  • Monday 26th August, 12.00pm

The informal and interactive sessions will be run by our homes Dementia Champions, Melissa Jorgensen and Tammy Symonds.

The short sessions which last approximately 40 minutes will explore what it’s like to live with dementia, how you can support someone who lives with dementia to live a fulfilled life and the small things you can do to make a difference.

Visitors who complete the session will receive a dementia friends’ badge and takeaway material from the Alzheimer’s Society.

Melissa Jorgensen said: “The drop-in session will tell you everything you need to know about dementia. One in three of us will live with dementia in their life, therefore it’s important that as a care provider we get the word out there and as a community we become more dementia friendly.”
