Hallmark shortlisted for four National Dementia Care Awards
We’re pleased to announce that three of our team members have been shortlisted for this year’s National Dementia Care Awards, alongside one of our homes.
Dementia Care Co-ordinator at Maycroft Manor Care Home, Ebrahim Razavi has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Dementia Carer’ category, alongside Dementia Care Co-ordinator at Admiral Court, Irene Anderson, who is shortlisted in the ‘Best Dementia Nurse Specialist/Dementia Lead’ category.
Meanwhile, Volunteer and relative at Greenhill Manor Care Home, Wendy Richards, is shortlisted in the ‘Dementia Care Champion Category, alongside Anya Court, our care home in Rugby, which is in the running to win the ‘Best Dementia Garden’ award.
The awards, which were first established in 2009 by The Journal of Dementia Care, will seek to acknowledge care providers and individuals who have made a significant difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.
Speaking of his prestigious nomination, Ebrahim said: “To be shortlisted for the Dementia Awards is something I never dreamed would happen five years ago when Maycroft Manor offered me a job.
“It is an absolute honour to be shortlisted for an award like this. This award is not just for me but for all of us at Hallmark that everyday strive to make all our residents in our care have a rich and fulfilling life.
“I’m so proud to be able to go and represent Myself, Hallmark, Clement way and Maycroft Manor in Doncaster. It really does mean the world to me.”
Irene, who has worked at Admiral Court since 2016 and in the care sector for 30 years said: “It is an honour to be nominated by Hallmark for such a prestigious award and it’s so lovely to be recognised for the work I do.
“I would like to say it is a real team effort and I would like to thank all the Admiral team for their support in helping me achieve my goals and give a special thank you to Hallmark as a company for believing in me.”
The acclaimed nomination for Anya Court follows in the homes success at the 2016 National Dementia Care Awards, where they scooped the ‘Best Dementia Garden Accolade.
Lifestyles Team Leader at Anya Court Care Home, Sue Mitchell said: “We are very happy to be shortlisted for this award.
“Our garden is a big part of our resident’s daily lives from participating or just relaxing while watching others. A lot of work has gone in to making our garden one for our residents to love and enjoy and to be recognised for all our efforts is just the icing on the cake.”
The home’s landscaped gardens, which were open to the general public in July, currently include; a fairy tale forest area, greenhouse, outdoor boules court, chicken coop and a modern water feature with a fish pond as its centre piece.
The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at Doncaster Racecourse on the 7th November.
