Henley Manor launches community reverse advent calendar challenge

Our new care home in Henley on Thames has launched a community reverse advent calendar challenge to support local youth charities YMCA and Nomad.

Throughout November and the start of December, our home on Mill Lane will be encouraging people to sign up to the challenge and donate one item daily from the suggested list for 24 days.

Once the box is filled, it will be delivered to Nomad and YMCA by the home so that families can enjoy the blessing at Christmas.

Customer Relationship Manager at Henley Manor, Saad Baig said: “We launched this challenge because YMCA and Nomad do amazing work in the local and extended communities supporting young people in need of food, shelter and support. Anyone is welcome to take part, each box costs approximately £30 to make and any donations of the required items would be greatly received.”

General Manager at YMCA, Lisa Grant said: “The trustees, staff and tenants of Henley YMCA are delighted to have been chosen by Henley Manor to take part in the reverse advent calendar scheme.

“Christmas is a time for families and for some of the tenants at Henley YMCA are estranged from their family. Receipt of the surprise boxes will help them to give them a sense of inclusion in the wider community at this special time of year. In addition as many of the tenants are on low incomes, these boxes will bring a little bit of cheer into their lives over the festive period.”
