Ty Enfys raises £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society at Christmas Fayre

Spreading Christmas cheer is one of the best things we do in our care homes for the residents during this season of giving.

Recently, Ty Enfys, our care home in Pentwyn, Cardiff hosted a day of fun-filled activities during their Christmas Fayre where they managed to raise over £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Inside, the home was decorated with bright lights and strings of decorated garland. The residents and visitors enjoyed the petting and feeding station with live reindeers and donkeys. A special area was also made into a nook for Santa’s grotto where children enjoyed meeting Father Christmas. A wide array of stalls displayed residents’ and volunteers’ hand-made crafts, products from local sellers in the community, baked goods, a special curry stall, and of course some warm drinks.

Other activities included a palm and tarot card reading station, a tombola and lucky dip games which guests of all ages enjoyed.

Funds raised from the festive event were donated to the Alzheimer’s Society, which funds research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia.

Our residential, nursing, and dementia home decided to fundraise for the cause after realising what a vital service it provides to the community.

Making the event even more meaningful was the special attendance of local Councillor Jacqueline Parry, who expressed her full appreciation and support for the cheerful cause.

Lily Chapman, Lifestyle leader at Ty Enfys said: “This event has become an annual tradition for our home every Christmas season and every year it just gets bigger and bigger. We have now seen more attendees than we have had in the past years with more of the residents’ relatives and friends, more volunteers helping out, and more local people from the community who have joined us as they have been made aware of our event through the banners and signs we have put outside the home.

“This has added to the warmth and jolly spirit of the season.”
