Anya Court celebrate International Women’s Day
Anya Court Care Home in Rugby celebrated International Women’s Day by hosting an afternoon tea and a debate for the local Women’s institute, Soroptimist, and female residents at the home.
The event held last Friday, aimed to celebrate women’s achievements across the generations and recognise the impact that has made on our wider society.
During the event, guests heard from Karen, the Customer Relationship Manager at the home who initiated a stimulating debate of the #EachForEqual campaign. This campaign aims to draw attention to the difference that us as individuals can make and encourages women of all ages to do their bit to bring about gender equality.
Customer Relationship Manager at Anya Court, Karen Handley said: “We had a fantastic afternoon and debate.
“An equal world is an enabled world and we discussed the changes that have happened over the years including the resident’s experiences here during the war to where we are now but we all recognised there is still a long way to go to reach gender equality.”
Wendy Noelle, Membership Secretary of the Rugby Soroptimist’s said: “It was an interesting afternoon of lively discussion that highlighted the disadvantages faced by women and girls world-wide and in this country. We do need to recognise International Women’s Day as at the present rate of progress it will take 108 years to achieve gender equality and we had some food for thought around this during the afternoon.”
