Local school puts on musical concert for Hutton View

The Brentwood School recently put on a special performance for the residents at Hutton View, our new residential and dementia care home in Brentwood, as well as other care homes in the local area.

The hour-long musical performance, titled ‘The Golden Age of Music’ was produced by student Emma and performed by other students from the school. The musical medley featured jazz, classical, wartime classics and musical theatre hits that were thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.

The music director at the Brentwood School, Florian Cooper said: “This concert is a very special feature especially for the local care home community and was masterminded by third-year pupil, Emma.

“Emma conceived the concert, organised the students and introduced the music on the night in a concert which aims to take listeners on a journey of music from the 1700s to modern-day. We are very proud of Emma and of course the rest of our young musicians who continue to bring happiness and a sense of community to so many, in truly difficult circumstances”

Customer Relationship Manager at Hutton View Care Home, Carl Roberts said: “Here at Hutton View we are so thankful to Brentwood School for putting on this amazing concert. The students are so talented and the team and residents were simply astonished by their musical skills.

“At a time where things have been tough across the community, music has served to be a beam of light in the darkness. Music is so important to residents. For those living with dementia, it can prove to be a valuable stimulus for emotional memory and we see a real energy from all who heard their music. We cannot wait to welcome the students to the home for a garden concert in the summer!”
