Chamberlain Court Care Home resident celebrates 100th birthday
A resident at Chamberlain Court, our care home in Royal Tunbridge Wells has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Alma Beaty spent her special day with her daughter Mary, care home team and other well-wishers at our residential, nursing and dementia home.
Alma was born on 12th April 1921 in the East End of London. Alma worked as a secretary at a farm in Linton, Kent before meeting her husband Willis Beaty, who was an engineer in the Royal Navy.
They married on 2nd April 1949 and went on to have two daughters. Alma also has two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Alma received a letter from the Queen congratulating her on her milestone and celebrated her special day with a visit from her daughter, a lobster lunch and a glass of bubbly followed by a slice of cake prepared by the kitchen team at our home.
Alma, 100 said: “I don’t know what my secret to longevity is, but I have never really drunk alcohol, apart from on special occasions, like on my 100th birthday! I have always preferred strong tea. I do have to admit I have always liked sweets, particularly mints and toffees as well as cream and pana cotta puddings and of course fresh lobster.”
Hospitality Services Manager at Chamberlain Court Care Home, Franck Bellavoine said: “it was a real pleasure for the team to prepare and serve Alma’s favourite lobster lunch. We’re delighted that she enjoyed her special day.”
