Hallmark care homes compete in Hallmark in Bloom
Hallmark Care Homes across England and Wales will once again compete in our glorious company-wide gardening event, Hallmark in Bloom.
Hallmark in Bloom is an annual competition held to find the greenest garden in the country. This year, Hallmark in Bloom runs from the 5th – 20th July and kicks off at our newest home, Henley Manor. Judging categories to this year’s event include; ‘Best Gardening Club’ and ‘Best Visual Impact.’
The purpose of Hallmark in Bloom is to get residents involved in gardening all year round and make the most of their outdoor space. Gardening is a popular past time among our residents and Hallmark in Bloom is the perfect opportunity to get to work in the gardens and really make them somewhere exciting to hold outdoor events or just sit and enjoy the summer sun.
Since its launch in 2003, Hallmark in Bloom has been an important date in the Hallmark Care Homes calendar of events. Our residents make use of our gardens throughout the year and enjoy participating in our weekly gardening clubs but taking part in the competition allows us to create a much bigger impact. It’s an opportunity for our residents to live an active, and independent lifestyle and showcase their efforts throughout the year.
The homes have been pulling out all the stops to make sure they are in ‘full bloom’ come judgement day. From growing their own fruits and vegetables to decorating the gardens with colourful accessories, each home is making use of their outdoor space in their own unique way.
The judging will be done by Georgina Miller, Wellbeing Manager, Hayley Hughes from Plantology in England and Nick Mannion, our gardening expert in Wales, who will be accompanied by Executive Chair, Avnish Goyal.
The judging day at the home is also a great opportunity for residents and team to get involved and enjoy a taste of the British summer time.
