Hallmark team members shortlisted for NAPA Member Awards 2021

We are delighted to announce that five Hallmark team members have been shortlisted at the NAPA Member Awards 2021.

The awards seek to recognise individuals who are innovative and creative in the way they meet the needs of the people they support and who show exceptional commitment and a skilled approach to prioritising wellbeing.

Both Sandra Watson from Anisha Grange and Valerie Morris from Ty Enfys, have been shortlisted in the ‘Unsung Hero’ category at the awards. Ben Cowley, from Ty Enfys, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Activity Provider’ category for his dedication to music therapy, and the entire Ty Enfys Lifestyles Team have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Activity Provider’ category.

Head of Dementia Care and Wellbeing, April Dobson, has also been shortlisted for the NAPA Special Award, which will be announced on the night. She said: “I received a message to tell me that I have been shortlisted for a ‘Special Award’ in the NAPA Member Activity Awards 2021.

“This is a huge honour given that there are so many dedicated colleagues working in this field who make a difference every single day! To sit amongst them is a privilege. Thank you to those who nominated me.”

Sandra Watson said: “I am so surprised to have been nominated. It really is so lovely to be thought of so highly and to be appreciated by so many.”

Ben Cowley said: “I’m honoured and humbled to be recognised in this way after such a challenging year in the care industry.

“Thank you to everyone who was involved in spreading the awareness of what I do to NAPA.

“I want to thank Hallmark for always championing creative freedom and striving to bring unique ideas to life.

“Most importantly, I’d like to thank the residents who partake in my activities and all the team who support them to do so because without them it would be far more difficult to succeed.”

Valerie Morris said: “ I am over joyed to be nominated for the unsung hero award. As excepted it may be it has brought a prided smile to my heart.

Life before March 2020, enjoying events at Ty Enfys held for all to enjoy whether it be hallmark in bloom, live music, anniversary dinner or a birthday party with friends and family included. Those where days filled with so much laughter.

Covid 19 pandemic came into all our lives which had brought many rollercoasters our way, whilst we learnt a new way of life we also learnt new skills.

Now more than ever we work as a team, we share our positive moments. The best positive moment for me during the spring of 2021 was when I was able to help one of our residents on our nursing community a hand made gift for his dear wife for their wedding anniversary and efforts made by the lifestyle team to make the moment a special event.

Making time to sit and listen to our residents and our team is highlight of my day. If any way I cam make a positive difference to someone’s day, it may be as small as a drink, saying something positive or making them laugh, it makes them know I will always try to be there in any way I can. It is always the little things that count.

Thank you for the nomination I am so touched.”

The winners will be announced on the 1st October at their online awards ceremony.
