Midford Manor team to climb 80ft crane for Dorothy House

Brave care workers at Midford Manor, our new care home being built on Frome Road in Bath will be climbing its 80ft crane to raise funds for Dorothy House.

General Manager, Carol Britton and Commissioning Manager, Jenny Mann have already raised £180 for the hospice which works with the Bath community to develop, influence and provide responsive palliative care and end of life care.

The daring duo, will attempt to climb the cranes 10 ladders, despite their immense fear of heights. They have decided to take on the challenge to support the hospice after seeing the vital services they provide to the Bath community.

Carol Britton said: “I have been a supporter myself of Dorothy House Hospice for the last decade and have taken part in a variety of activities over the years, but nothing as daring as a crane climb.  Dorothy House is such a valued part of our community, supporting and caring for local people including many people I have known personally, the opportunity to climb a fixture of our skyline and raise some money for them in the process was an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up!”

Jenny Mann added: “We’re so grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received from the local community so far, taking part in the crane climb is our opportunity to give back. I’ve heard all about the wonderful work that Dorothy House does and I’m motivated now more than ever to face my fears.”

Community and Events Fundraiser at Elizabeth House Hospice Care, Emily Aspin said: “We are delighted that Carol and Jenny are bravely taking on the challenge of climbing the 80 foot crane at Midford Manor.  Everyone at Dorothy House is immensely proud of this fantastic pair and are incredibly grateful that they have chosen to support the hospice.  The funds raised by this fantastic duo will be used to fund our essential care for patients, their carers and families.  Our vital work literally couldn’t carry on without the incredible support from our local community.  Best of luck to intrepid Carol and Jenny in their immense challenge!”
