Brighton care home celebrates platinum jubilee
Maycroft Manor Care Home on Carden Avenue, celebrated Her Majesty, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee recently by holding a street party for over 120 residents, relatives and members of the local community.
As part of the special event at our residential, dementia and nursing home, guests enjoyed lunch, a singalong, raffle and fayre games such as tin can alley with all the proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Resident poet Patricia O’Bryne also read a jubilee inspired poem as part of the celebrations.
General Manager of Maycroft Manor Care Home, Richard Lawson said: “We wanted to create the atmosphere of street parties from the past, family, neighbours and friends sat at one long table sharing food cooked by the residents and team. It was a truly joyous day and a real community celebration filled with laughter and sunshine and of course a good old fashioned sing-a-long!”
Lifestyle Leader at Maycroft Manor Care Home, Emily Carver said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful families who helped out and raised £270 for Alzheimer’s UK. It has always been my dream to get residents from all communities in one place together for food and a good time and yesterday we achieved that. It was an amazing team effort from everyone from our carers, kitchen, lifestyles, maintenance teams and head of departments working together.”
Resident Patricia O’Bryne said: “It was such a memorable day and I’d like to say thank you to everyone who made it such a success, this is my home and I am so happy and comfortable here.”
