Mayor visits Lakeview Care Home to celebrate Care Home Open Week

Helen Whitcroft – Mytchett & Deepcut Councillor, Mayor of Surrey Heath and Surrey Heath Borough Council visited Lakeview, our care home in Lightwater recently and met with residents, team and Inder Hanzra the General Manager.

Her visit was arranged as part of Care Home Open Week, which runs from Monday 27th to Sunday 3rd July and seeks to highlight the critical role of care homes. Lakeview Care Home was one of 1,500 care homes across the country to take part.

Whilst at our residential and dementia home, Helen chatted to the residents and also joined in a competitive game of indoor Boules.

Inder presented Helen with a summer bouquet as a sign of appreciation for her taking the time to visit Lakeview as part of Care Home Open Week.

Inder Hanzra said: “It was our pleasure to be able to open the doors at Lakeview for visitors to see how life at our vibrant care home in Lightwater, Surrey can be, particularly following the challenges of the past couple of years where we have been less able to welcome visitors. Being able to welcome Helen here early in her mayoral year and finding out more about her exciting plans for the forthcoming year made our open day for Care Home Open Week 2022 a memorable one.”

Helen Whitcroft said: “‘It was my pleasure to attend Lakeview during their open day. It was lovely to be able to visit and speak with residents following the lifting of restrictions of the pandemic. I joined residents enjoying their beautifully kept patio gardens and in a game of indoor Boules. There was much laughter as it became very competitive!  I would like to wish both residents and staff the very best for the future.”
