Anya Court launches Christmas wish competition for residents

Residents who live at Anya Court, our care home in Rugby are crossing their fingers after entering a Christmas wish competition.

The festive competition called Lucky Star, runs throughout December and encourages residents to make a wish however big or small and then display it on a tree within the home.

In the New Year, team members at our residential and dementia home, will review the wishes and will make at least one wish come true for a resident.

Residents wishes currently on the Lucky Star tree range from a hot chocolate in the park and a party at the pub to a trip to Italy and racing in a fast car.

General Manager at Anya Court Care Home, Michelle Sides said: “We decided to launch this competition as lifestyle choice is very important to all of us here at Anya Court and we believe that residents should have their needs and wishes met when they move into a care home. It could be anything from seeing their favourite show in the West End to visiting their place of birth or finding a long lost relative.

“All of our resident’s get Christmas presents from us on Christmas Day, but by getting to know what they would really like to do or have, gives us an opportunity to truly enhance their happiness and make a difference.”

Lifestyles Leader at Anya Court Care Home, Sue Mitchell added: “We are very excited to make some of these wishes come true. So far, from doing the activity, we have found out some amazing things about our residents and many of the wishes are very small and easily achievable.”
