Blooming marvellous! Mindenhurst Project plant a tree at Lakeview as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy
The Mindenhurst Project have planted a tree at our Lightwater care home as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy.
Residents at Lakeview Care Home were the proud recipients of the Spindle tree which was planted to celebrate her late Majesty’s platinum jubilee, with an aim of planting a million trees to create a living legacy in her name.
The spindle tree which can grow to 9m tall and can live for more than 100 years was just one of many trees donated by The Mindenhurst Project and Skanska one of the world’s top construction companies to support the local community and pay tribute to Her Majesty’s service.
During early 2023 trees have also been donated to residents in Mindenhurst, Deepcut and Blackdown Pre-School.
As part of the special event, Surrey Wildlife Trust attended and spoke to residents about local wildlife and the importance of the trees to many species. Residents and visitors then enjoyed warming hot chocolate, mini scones, mustard and honey sausages and crostini’s from the residential and dementia home’s hospitality team.
Inder Hanzra, General Manager at Lakeview Care Home said: “We are delighted that the Mindenhurst Project team have very kindly donated the Spindle tree to Lakeview for the enjoyment of the residents, their families and friends and the Lakeview team as a living legacy in the name of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
Leisliane Garcia, Development Director at Skanska said: “The Mindenhurst Project team were delighted to join residents of Lakeview Care Home to plant a tree as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy. This is one of the trees we are proudly donating to the community to support our local environment and to create a living legacy in in Her Majesty’s name.”
