Lakeview team member to walk 31 miles in May for Dementia UK.

Senior Carer at Lakeview Care Home in Lightwater, Giada Congiu, is walking 31 miles in May to raise money for Dementia UK.

Dementia UK is a specialist dementia nurse charity. Their nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to of those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, helping those with dementia to stay independent for longer, and support those caring for them.

Giada, who has been working at the home for two years, sustained an ankle injury and spent five months on crutches. She will be taking on this challenge to raise much needed funds for Dementia UK whilst supporting her rehabilitation.

Giada said: “I am walking to raise awareness that those living with dementia all have a story and individual relationship-centred support.

“Every single individual has a world inside of them and so much to still offer. Working as a Senior Carer at Lakeview Care Home gives me the opportunity to support the residents and their families on this journey.

“Each day I learn something from the residents and I truly hope that I have as much impact on their lives as they have on mine.”
