Ty Porth Care Home has a dedicated team to support residents get the most out of life. We encourage and facilitate residents to have active lives, enabling them to do the things they’ve always loved. They can enjoy a sense of belonging and fulfilment by being part of a vibrant community, building friendships along the way.

At our care home in Porth, we offer a full activities calendar to suit all tastes and abilities. From dances for keeping active to cooking, painting and music sessions to keep the creative juices flowing, there’s lots on offer for residents to get involved with and activities are tailored to meet individual needs. We also offer planned trips out with the support of the Oomph! minibus.

Moreover, at our care home in Rhondda Cynon Taf we also have outdoor spaces, which offer views to the stunning Welsh valleys that surround the home. Residents can relax and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air or participate in a spot of gardening in preparation for our annual Hallmark in Bloom competition, where we pitch our homes’ gardens against each other! This is something that residents greatly enjoy with activities ranging from painting flower pots and making garden mobiles, to potting plants. For those that prefer to take part in gardening from the comfort of their own room, we can bring the garden to them with activities such as potting hanging baskets indoors.

We understand that your beloved pets are a part of your family and believe every effort should be made to ensure they are not left behind when you move into a care home. Wherever possible, we support residents to welcome their four-legged friends and we work with The Cinnamon Trust to ensure pets are exercised if residents are too poorly to do so. At Ty Porth we believe that relationship-centred care encompasses all relationships in a person’s life and that the relationship a person has with their much-loved pet can be as strong and as rewarding as a human relationship. Before coming to live at our care home in Porth, every resident completes ‘About Me’, a booklet that gives us great insight into their history, hobbies, likes and dislikes. For our care team this is an important first step to building a strong, supportive relationship, essential to delivering bespoke, high-quality relationship-centred care. It also helps us plan the sorts of activities that will make living at Ty Porth more interesting and enjoyable.

We work with families to ensure that their loved one is settled and happy and understand that our relationship with every resident, their family, and friends is central to delivering the best possible care. We support residents, and their loved ones, to maintain their relationships and keep their close connection via various digital platforms such as iPads and Facebook Portal devices, which allows loved ones to see photos, send messages and share videos. This means you can still communicate with residents no matter how far away you may be.

Our catering team at our care home in Rhondda Cynon Taf use the freshest ingredients to prepare healthy, delicious, nutritionally balanced meals throughout the day.
Our menu features classic dishes alongside regional cuisine and is updated regularly, ensuring there is a range of options to choose from, every day.

We also work alongside residents to understand their nutritional requirements and food preferences to ensure their needs are met and to bring them food that they enjoy.
