We are thrilled to share that Hallmark Anisha Grange, our care home in Billericay, Essex, has earned Playlist for Life Accreditation, a significant recognition from the music and dementia charity Playlist for Life.

Founded in 2013, Playlist for Life’s mission is straightforward: to ensure that every individual with dementia has a unique and personal playlist, and that everyone who cares for them knows how to use it effectively. Research has shown that listening to a personal playlist can positively impact those living with dementia, offering benefits like reduced anxiety and a rekindled sense of familiarity.

At Hallmark Anisha Grange, our team completed a six-month training course developed in collaboration with expert consultants. The training covered the science behind personalised playlists, their role in reducing the need for medication, and more. Upon completion, we received the Playlist for Life Plaque at a special presentation at our care home.

Avnish Goyal CBE, Executive Chair and Founder at Hallmark Luxury Care Homes, remarked on this achievement: “This accomplishment goes beyond meeting professional standards; it demonstrates our commitment to providing exceptional care. Tailored playlists can spark memories, lower stress, and offer comfort to those living with dementia. Our team’s dedication to this approach reflects a deep understanding of its benefits.”

Michael Timmons, Executive Director at Playlist for Life, expressed: “It was an honour to attend the award ceremony at Anisha Grange care home. Earning Playlist for Life accreditation showcases a true commitment to enhancing the lives of residents with dementia through personalised music. The team at Anisha Grange have truly set the gold standard in incorporating playlists into their care.”

The impact of personalised playlists at Anisha Grange has been profound. Residents and their families have reported improved well-being, and the team has seamlessly integrated this approach into daily care. “Playlists might seem like a simple idea, but they can have a transformative effect on the health and happiness of residents,” Michael added.

Anisha Grange is now among several Hallmark care homes with Playlist for Life Accreditation, joining Shire Hall and Ty Enfys in Wales. We look forward to continuing to implement personalised playlists throughout our organisation and providing high-quality care for those living with dementia.
