Welcoming pets
From peaceful cuddles to playful games, the bond with your pet is precious. That’s why fluffy friends are welcome at our care homes. If you’ve got a furry companion, we can’t wait to meet you both!
We will make every effort to ensure that your furry companion can move in when you do but if you have any questions about bringing a pet with you, please speak to your local home for advice.
We understand that your beloved pets are a part of your family and believe every effort should be made to ensure they are not left behind when you move into a care home.
Wherever possible, we support residents to welcome their four-legged friends and we work with The Cinnamon Trust to ensure pets are exercised if residents are too poorly to do so. At Hallmark Care Homes we believe that relationship-centred care encompasses all relationships in a person’s life and that the relationship a person has with their much-loved pet can be as strong and as rewarding as a human relationship. There are also many emotional and health benefits that animals bring to older people.
Studies have shown that, responsible interaction with companion animals can benefit us in many different ways, including:
Health Benefits
Improve mood, reduce depression
Lower blood pressure
Lower cholesterol levels
Lower the risk of a heart attack
Motivate and encourage exercise
Reduce and prevent stress
Help to prevent disease
