Party Time As Cartref Annywyl Fan Celebrate 25 years
Cartref Annywyl Fan, our care home in Ammanford, recently celebrated 25 years since it first opened with a party for residents, their friends and family, and the local community.
The popular home, which welcomed its first residents in 1990 and was acquired by Hallmark 12 years ago, recognised individuals who have contributed to its success with champagne, canapé’s and traditional Welsh entertainment from the Llandybie Male Voice Choir.
Among the 80 guests who attended was Cartref Annwyl Fan’s original owner Marina Llewelyn, who opened the home with her husband Bryn 25 years ago. Their daughter Meidwen Thomas has worked at the home ever since!
Marina said: “My husband said to me when we decided to open a residential home, if we are going to do this we do this properly. A lot has changed here in terms of looks and facilities here over the years but it still has the same ‘homely’ feel. I don’t think you could ever take that away from Cartref Annwyl Fan.”
Another special guest on the day was Milfred Rees, who has lived at Cartref Annwyl Fan for the last 10 years. Milfred, 87 said: “I’ve had a really nice day celebrating 25 years at Cartref. I especially enjoyed the choir, my father was in a choir when I was younger so I know the songs very well.”
Guests from the local community included; the local fire, police and ambulance services and Betws Councillor Anthony Davis.
In a speech to those who attended, General Manager, Adele Williams said: “Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Cartref Annwyl Fan’s success. We wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for your continued support. My team and I are strongly committed to the home and foster an atmosphere of care and support which enables our residents to live full interesting, independent and active lives.”
