Lakeview Care Home shortlisted for national dementia garden award

Lakeview, our care home in Lightwater has been shortlisted for a prestigious dementia garden award.

Our residential and dementia home is in the running for an award in the ‘Dementia Garden’ category at the national Dementia Care Awards.

The awards, first established in 2009, seek to acknowledge care providers and individuals who have made a significant difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.

Lakeview, boasts several stunning outdoor features including; landscaped gardens with a vegetable allotment and sensory garden, multiple water features and an outdoor stage set up for entertainers in the summer months.

It also has a beautiful, light and spacious orangery, which leads on onto a secure roof terrace with raised planters, bird feeders and bird boxes.

General Manager of Lakeview Care Home, Neil Lancaster said: “We are absolutely delighted to have our home in the final for this prestigious award.

“An enormous amount of hard work, dedication and passion has gone into creating our beautiful garden so that the residents, their families and the care teams can feel at home. Being shortlisted for this category is a wonderful acknowledgement of all that effort!”

The winners of the 2017 Dementia Care Awards will be announced at a glittering ceremony on November 9th hosted by former Emmerdale actor John Middleton at Doncaster Racecourse in Doncaster.
