All you need is hugs!
Hallmark Care Homes will spread a bit of love on Monday 1st October by taking part in our annual company-wide event, Hug Day.
Hug Day encourages physical interaction between residents, family and team members to celebrate the comfort and happiness that a simple hug can bring.
The event is individual to each home and its residents, and to support this, stickers are circulated to all homes in advance and those residents who want to take part and have a hug will wear one for the day.
Since its launch in 2006, Hug Day has been an important date in the Hallmark Care Homes calendar of events. Our team members hug our residents throughout the year and they regularly arrange activities which encourage physical interaction however, Hug Day allows us to create a much bigger impact. It’s an opportunity for our team members, residents and relatives to create lasting bonds and celebrate how much we care.
This year, our homes will be hosting an array of fun activities throughout the day to help us spread the love.
Avnish Goyal, Chair of Hallmark Care Homes and Care England said: “Hugging is often discouraged in care homes and this shouldn’t be the case as hugging is natural and it is very therapeutic. Hugging decreases stress, it increases well-being and it makes people happy.
“We are expecting a great turn for our Hug Day activities this year and we are looking forward to once again celebrate how much we care.”
