Hallmark Midford Manor Luxury Care Home in Bath, Somerset, recently celebrated a double victory at the prestigious Bath in Bloom competition. The home, known for its lush, landscaped gardens, won both Gold and the title of Overall Winner in the “Business with a Large Garden” category.

Gardener Bruce Headford and Hobbies Assistant Tanya Hohl-Cowie accepted the award during a ceremony held on Friday, 30th August, at The Roper Theatre, Hayesfield School.

Bruce shared his insights into what it takes to win such accolades: “The planning for Bath in Bloom begins in the depths of winter. The support of the hobbies team is essential to get any project off the ground. Engaging the residents and making them part of the process is key to success—it’s all about teamwork.”

He continued, “Organising tasks like sowing seeds, constructing frameworks, and planting requires careful planning. Enthusiasm is crucial—if you’re not excited about the project, the residents won’t be either. We focus on growing flowers that resonate with the residents, with familiar scents that evoke memories and stimulate the senses.”

Bruce also noted the importance of keeping energy high throughout the process, ensuring plants get the right care, and involving everyone in the home to have the garden in top shape for judging day.

Reflecting on the victory, he added: “Winning is a wonderful way to raise spirits. The trophy is a great reward, and it motivates us to aim even higher next year. We’re already plotting and planning for what’s next, with regular discussions to stay ahead.”

The success at Bath in Bloom reflects the dedication, teamwork, and passion at Hallmark Midford Manor. With plans already underway for next year, the team is eager to continue creating vibrant spaces that inspire and engage residents.
